George L. "Brownie" Cronkhite, Rural Route 3, Brenman, Indiana, passed away November 3 at the family residence. He was a retired grocery and farmer. He was in the grocery business from 1929 to 1940 in South Bend, the grocery being the "Portage Avenue Grocery" and in 1940 moved to Brenman, Indiana, where he has been a farmer since. He was the son of Winefield and Louisa Reynolds Cronkhite, being born December 1, 1891 in Warren County, Indiana. On June 24, 1912, he married Ottomay Grimes, who survives him. He is survived by his wife and two sisters, Mrs. Ada Talbert of South Bend and Mrs. Bess Brenden of Cleveland, Ohio. The body will be brought overland to the Hamilton Funeral Home in West Lebanon where friends may call Thursday evening. The funeral services will be Friday, November 6, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in West Lebanon. The burial will be in West Lebanon Cemetery.
